JALANDHAR: Rinku Summan, 32, one of the seven crew members killed in an US cargo plane crash on Monday, has a part of his paternal family residing in Sikandarpur village.
The Dubai-bound plane had crashed shortly after take-off from Bagram air base near the Afghan capital of Kabul.
“My chachaji (uncle) got US citizenship in 1989 and the family shifted countries in 1991. Rinku studied here till Class V at government primary school Alawalpur,” Rinku’s cousin Anil Summan told Hindustan Times.
“He completed his studies at Michingan and chose to become a pilot. He has been working with National Airlines for over three years and was married to Rajni Summan, also a pilot.”
“We all shocked at the death. He was in regular touch with all of us here in India. In 2007, on his last visit to India, we had a good time together,” he added.
“Since morning, we are in regular touch with his family at Michigan and trying to console his wife, who is inconsolable.”
