UK-based NRI husband booked for wife’s murder

HOSHIARPUR/LONDON: UK-based NRI, Sukhvir Singh has been booked by Punjab Police for hiring a contract killer to kill his wife, Balbir kaur. The husband and the contract killer are arrested, though the amount paid to perform the crime is not yet know.

Over a month the police shuffled around without lead or the identity of the victim. However, as soon as the victim was identified the police didn’t take long to unfold the mystery behind the murder.

On April 30, Chabbewal police recovered a blood-stained body of a woman from an isolated area in Chak Narial village. Later when the police botched to identify the victim, the police posted the victim’s photograph on the social networking site, Facebook. As a result on May 27, one of the victim’s relative from Rahon in Nawanshahr, identified her as Balbir Kaur, the relative also inform the police about the victims sour relation with her NRI husband.

SSP Sukhchain Singh Gill stated that the two prime accused Tejinderjit Singh and Rajwinder Singh, inhabitants of Jeedowal village, were arrested on Monday. The two accused had confessed the crime and informed the police that Balbir Kaur’s husband Sukhvir Singh had assigned them for the job of killing his wife.

The police seized the murder weapon from the accused and also added, "They informed us that they had been promised a good amount by Sukhvir."

DSP Chabbewal, later told the media that the accused had assured Balbir Kaur to accompany her to a religious place, but they abducted her and took her to Chak Narial, where they stabbed her to death.

He also added that Balbir’s NRI husband suspected her of fidelity.
