AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), Canada, to promote scholarly activities and international understanding.

Vice-chancellor of GNDU, Prof AS Brar and President and vice-chancellor, University of the Fraser Valley, Canada, Dr Mark Evered, signed the MoU.

Prof Brar said, “Under the MoU, both universities have agreed to enter into an academic partnership within the context of global integration.” He said both universities would work in tandem to promote international professionals.

“Societies are increasingly characterised by complexity, diversity and inter-connectedness. This requires graduates to be internationally and inter-culturally competent to live and work effectively. The MoU is intended to take full advantage of the education resources at both institutions. This provides for the development and expansion of the education markets,” said the VC.

Detailing further, the VC stressed that the main objective of the MoU would be the development of articulation/transfer agreements, to organise cooperative academic activities such as conferences, seminars, symposia or lectures.

He said coordinators would be appointed by both the universities, who shall manage the development and conduct of joint activities.

“The coordinators will be responsible for the evaluation of activities under the MoU as per the practices of their respective institutions, claimed the VC.
