SGPC for action against assault on US Sikh doc

Amritsar : The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandak Committee appealed to the Home Minister and the Foreign Minister to take stern action against the immigration officer for humiliating California-based Sikh doctor and his colleague doctor at Delhi Airport.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandak Committee president Avtar Singh Makkar sought immediate suspension of the immigration officer. He said it is the duty of the immigration and police department at the airport to provide assistance to the foreigners but the attitude towards the California-based Sikhs doctors was very shameful act and the Sikhs will never tolerate those persons who defame the name of the country.

It is important to mention here that a California-based Dr Harmandeep Singh and his woman friend were humiliated by the immigration officials at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday, Makkar said to keep in the mind the Sikh sentiments, the Indian government should take action against the guilty officer.

He said this humiliating act will send a bad massage to the foreign countries.
