Chandigarh : The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) has demanded a CBI inquiry into the allegations leveled by US-based doctor of Indian origin Harman Deep Rai that he and his woman friend were abused and beaten up by immigration and police staff at the IGI Airport in Delhi on September 29.
Satnam Singh Chahal, executive director of the association, said the incident had evoked resentment in the Indian-American community. "If the NRI doctor was drunk, as claimed by the Delhi Police, why did the police not get his medical examination done," asked Chahal.
He alleged there was no woman immigration or police official when the two were detained and questioned. The NAPA demanded suspension of the officials responsible for the incident.
