25 live cartridges seized from US citizen at SGRDJ International Airport

Amritsar: Twenty-five live cartridges were seized from US citizen, Manjeet Kaur Dhillon (52) by security agencies at Sri Guru Ramdass Ji International airport of Amritsar on Wednesday morning.
The alleged accused was detained by CISF troops when she was on the way to take New Delhi bound flight, live bullets of .223 bore were recovered from the bag of detainee. Originally, Manjeet belongs to Los Angeles city of California in United States.
When Manjeet put her bag for scanning then CISF jawans found something suspicious in the bag and later when they checked manually then they recovered live bullets. After her detention, CISF handed over her to concerned Airport police station.
While giving the details, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), zone 2, Ketan Patil has informed, “In the preliminary questioning, Manjeet has revealed that she came to Punjab some days back for attending a wedding in Nawanshahr district”. He said “Manjeet told police that she was going to Pune, Maharashtra via Delhi to meet her relatives and she was schedule to return to US from there”.
ADCP Patil said, “It seems that the live cartridges which were recovered from Manjeet were not manufactured in India as such bullets were not common in India”. Manjeet told police that she is not aware about the existence of rounds in her bag as she never carried it”.
He further added, “Manjeet was carrying these cartridges illegally as she was not having any license or any permission”.
Station House Officer, Airport police station, Mohan Singh said, “ Manjeet was born and brought in US as she claimed that her grandparents migrated to US long time back, Manjeet’s husband is in building construction business”.
He said, “Manjeet revealed that she along with her friends came in India for attending marriage in Pune and Nawanshahar even their group has visited different religious and historical places here”.
The SHO added, “ We have informed Manjeet’s family and US embassy about her arrest and a case has been registered against her.”
