Police to act against Bhana’s father, US NRI in double murder case

JALANDHAR: The commissionerate police are set to take action against Lakhwinder Singh, father of dreaded gangster Daljit Singh Bhana, and US-based NRI Amritpal Singh for hatching a criminal conspiracy in the case involving the murder of Simranjeet (23) and Deepansh (19) in February last year.

During his interrogation, Bhana reportedly told the police that his father, who is based in the US presently, was in Jalandhar at the time of the murders and arranged ` 1 lakh to pay a travel agent for preparing his fake passport.

Senior officials of the commissionerate police, who are camping in the CIA staff to interrogate Bhana, said after the murders, Bhana’s father met him at Jamalpur locality of Patiala and then fled to US after a few weeks.

Officials further said Amritpal Singh, the brother of Yudhvir Singh, one of the accused in the double murder case, was in touch with Bhana and others before the murder.

Amritpal kept a close watch on the movement of Simranjeet, Deepansh and Randeep through his aides at the local health club, the officials said.

They also said when the victims were returning home on a Royal Enfield motorcycle (PB08-AL-8682) as from Raj Nagar, members of the Bhana gang attacked them.

The police claimed that the role of some politicians belonging to the ruling parties, who were allegedly shielding Bhana, will also be checked.
