LONDON: Angad Paul, the son of prominent industrialist Swraj Paul and chief executive officer of the family-controlled Caparo Industries, has died following a fall from his penthouse atop an eight-storeyed building in central London.
Paul, 45, was found on the roof of a building on Sunday morning, and pronounced dead by paramedics. He leaves behind wife Michelle Bonn and two children. He lived in the family home in Marylebone, with his parents and 57-year-old twin brothers, Ambar and Akash.
Paul was educated at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he gained degrees in economics and media arts and sciences.
Scotland Yard did not identify Paul in keeping with standard practice, but told HT: “Police were called at approximately 11:05hrs on Sunday to reports of a man fallen from height from a building in Portland Place, WC1. London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance both attended and the man, believed to be in his mid-40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident continue but it is being treated as non-suspicious at this stage.”
Paul’s death comes within days of the flagship Caparo Industries on the verge of collapsing due to fall in steel prices.
There was no comment from the company.
