Gang making fake parole papers, voter IDs busted

Jalandhar : Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Gang Staff of the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police on Thursday busted a seven-member gang involved in the making of forged documents of criminals on parole, fake voter ID cards and rubber stamps.
The police have recovered 300 fake voter ID cards, 15 fake ID cards of numberdars, 30 fake ‘fard’ documents, eight fake vehicles. Around 15 rubber stamps bearing government departments’ signage, land registries, one computer and a printer were also recovered from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Pawan Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Mehar Singh, all residents of Amritsar, Raj Kumar, a resident of Khurla Kingra village of Jalandhar, Ajay Singh, a resident of Ajit Nagar, Ashok Kumar, a resident of Mohalla Gulabian and Sanjeev Arora, a resident of Jalandhar.
Addressing a press conference, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sarabjit Singh said that the gang used to make fake parole documents of the criminals and submit them in the court and also carry out the work of making forged voter ID cards bearing hologram on it.
“During investigation it has come to the fore that the accused had filed fake parole documents of as many as 200 criminals in the court. All the seven accused have been taken on police remand while more cases were likely to be solved during further investigation,” he added.
DCP highlighted that the accused had also made forged parole documents of one Gagan Kanojia, who was already facing 14 years of imprisonment and lodged in Kapurthala jail in a murder case.
Two of the accused namely-Pawan Kumar and Mehar Singh had filed the fake parole documents of Kanojia while they were based in Amritsar.
