Jalandhar Sewer Man Union Pawan Bawa said, “May 1 is considered as Labour Day, but the notification of the state government banning the recruitment of Class 4 employees on permanent basis, shows the empathy of the government towards the laborers in the state.”
The protesting union members said, “The state government promised to curb the contract system, to carry out the work of the corporation in the city. Now by passing this notification, the state government has proved that it is anti-poor and anti-labor in nature and is paving way for their exploitation.”
