CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Youth Congress activists burnt the effigy of Arvind Kejriwal at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, Sector 35, on Saturday for alleged attack on Congress workers by his party's volunteers.
Indian Youth Congress secretary Varinder Thakur was also present during the protest carried out against attack on the Youth Congress workers by volunteers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Jalalabad, Punjab.
Youth Congress workers had requested permission to ask a few questions to Kejriwal during the meet; when they were attacked with brick that grievously injured them. This was, then, strongly resented. Virender Thakur condemned the attitude of Arvind Kejriwal which he claimed was double standard.
State secretary Yadvinder Mehta said, on one hand, AAP supported freedom of expression and backed JNU students and was sympathetic to Rohith Vemula case, and on the other hand, the attack on the workers did not go with what Kejriwal believed. This attitude puts AAP and the SAD on the same frequency that is harmful for the state. Abhishek Shenky, Joseph, Gurjot Sandhu, Lalit, Kavalpreet and Navdeep were present on the occasion.
