Police yet to arrest suspended youth Akali leader

AMRITSAR: As suspended Youth Akali Dal (YAD) leader Navdeep Goldy continues to be on the run, Amritsar senior deputy mayor Avtar Singh Truckanwala has demanded his immediate arrest.

Goldy allegedly slapped and tossed Truckanwala’s turban into the air at the meeting room of deputy commissioner on Thursday. “Though police have registered a case against Goldy, there is urgent need to arrest him, said Truckanwala.

Amritsar police commissioner Amar Singh Chahal said raids were conducted at Goldy’s house and he would be caught soon.

“I am not an absconder. I will apprise deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal about my position before surrendering before police,” Goldy had told HT on Thursday.

The two leaders came to blows when deputy commissioner Varun Roojam was convening a meeting on development works in his office on Thursday.
