AMRITSAR: Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday sought his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation, claiming that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener had no moral right to continue in office as his “corrupt face” had been exposed.

The CM said he had long been maintaining that Kejriwal was a “dacoit” who was only interested in filling his pockets. His comments came in the backdrop of sacked Delhi minister Kapil Mishra accusing the Delhi CM of taking ₹2 crore from his cabinet colleague Satyendar Jain, a charge refuted by Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia.

Amarinder said given the seriousness of the allegations levelled against him and his party over the past several months, Kejriwal should have resigned a long time ago. “But being a shameless person that he is, the AAP leader will not even quit now,” he said.

He also demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and action against Kejriwal under the anti-corruption laws. He urged the Delhi lieutenant governor to initiate the necessary action against Kejriwal and his government.

DELHI CM STANDS EXPOSED: SAD

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) also demanded Kejriwal’s resignation and also his immediate arrest after bribery charges.

The bribery scandal has “finally uncovered Kejriwal’s real face”, SAD general secretary Bikram Singh Majithia said, adding “the AAP was being accused of being involved in corruption since long but now, we have a person who was cabinet minister in the Delhi government claiming he witnessed the Delhi CM accepting ₹2-crore bribe from a tainted colleague.

Majithia said Mishra’s revelations affirmed what was common knowledge that the AAP was enmeshed in the cesspool of corruption and immorality.

“Kejriwal has always maintained that he will take action against anyone accused of wrongdoing, be it his own son. What action he proposes on himself?” questioned Majithia.
