ABOHAR: “The Congress government has no agenda of political vendetta but those who embezzled public money in the garb of development works in last 10 years will be taken to task as per law,” said new PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar on Sunday.

Jakhar was on his maiden visit to his hometown Abohar after becoming the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president.

“Be it wheat scam, disbursal of huge cache of funds in sangat darshans or urban development programmes during the Akali regime, the guilty will not be spared,” he added.

Commenting on the water sharing issue, Jakhar said, “Punjab has no extra water as it’s an open secret that some blocks of the state were declared dark zones.”

He said water availability in the state reduced to 13 MAF (million acre feet) from 17 MAF. “Before taking any decision about giving water to other states, the situation of water resources and its requirement for people here should be analysed properly,” he said.

Jakhar further said saving the agriculture sector from the present crisis tops the agenda of the state government.
