Local bodies dept to implement e­governance soon

CHANDIGARH: The local bodies department would soon implement the e-governance project.

Sharing the details, local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu said in the first phase of the project various services such as birth and death certificates, complaints and grievances, property tax, trade permits and licences and water supply would be provided to people.

He held a meeting with a bunch of companies to implement e-governance in the department.

According to Sidhu, a request for the proposal will be divided into two components — hardware and software and the project would be allotted on the basis of merit.

Among others present on the occasion were adviser to the local government department Amar Singh and secretary, local government JM Balamurugan.
