Chandigarh : PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar today said Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh was well aware of the issue of bidding for sand mines by alleged frontmen of Power and Irrigation Minister Rana Gurjit Singh.

“The CMis looking into the matter. He is getting all details,” Jakhar said.

He added: “We know that people hope for good governance and a clean administration.”

Jakhar was addressing the media, along with senior party leader and MP Jyotiraditya Scindia as part of the party’s move to hold nation wide conferences to dub the Modi government as anti-people and all-round failure.

Though the CM has so far not commented on the issue, pressure is building up on the government to act against the minister. A senior party MLA said: “First, it was the issue of selling power to the PSPCL and now, sand mining. The government should come clean on the issue.”

Sources said Rana had met the CM yesterday to clear his position. It is learnt that after seeking detailed report from the department concerned, the CM is likely to review the matter tomorrow before taking any decision.

Another MLA pointed out that the conflict of interest issue pertaining to Navjot Singh Sidhu was referred to the Advocate-General and the same yardstick should apply to Rana Gurjit.

Rana Gurjit must go: Sampla

Jalandhar: State BJP chief Vijay Sampla on Sunday said Rana Gurjit should resign on moral grounds. “If the minister refuses to quit, the CM should at least take a call and ask him to resign,” he said.
