Chandigarh: Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal virtually tried to sidestep from the sand mining controversy, here on Tuesday.

The minister said he was more concerned about revenue generation from the mines not with his Cabinet colleague’s alleged involvement in it.

Manpreet made the statement while replying to the queries of media persons after attending the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in Punjab Bhawan on Tuesday.

The mining controversy has erupted after Power and Irrigation Minister Rana Gurjit’s alleged involvement came to the fore.

Manpreet claimed, “I am a Finance Minister and am eyeing the revenue generation.”
