Sidhu to hold meeting to discuss illegal constructions

LUDHIANA: The local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu called a meeting of the officials of Ludhiana municipal corporation’s building branch on Friday to discuss the issue of illegal buildings in city on Wednesday.

Sources said that issue of violations of the building by-laws at 85 complexes in city is also a part of agenda for the meeting.

Punjab and Haryana high court on May 23 summoned the chief vigilance officer (CVO) of local bodies department in a contempt petition that was filed by RTI activist Rohit Sabharwal about the misuse of parking space in the complexes.

As per the orders of high court, the CVO was to ensure compliance and hearing regarding 85 complexes in the court on August 4.
