Government printing presses to be revived, overhauled: Dharamsot

Chandigarh : Punjab government has decided to revive government-own printing presses that have lying defunct and employees sitting without work for the past over a decade. A printing press located in Patiala will also be taken on priority basis to streamlines the printing and stationery department besides putting the employees on job. The officials concerned of the department have been asked to submit a comprehensive report to the office of Printing and Stationary Minister Sadhu Singh Dharmsot.

Sources in the department disclosed that the minister was taking personal interest in reviving the printing machines so that the manpower, and machinery could be put to their optimum use.

The minister, on May 18, had conducted surprise visit to the office of controller of Printing and Stationary, Sector 17, Chandigarh, has fund a steno absent from the duty. A departmental inquiry was also ordered against the absent employee by Dharamsot.

The minister also claimed that surplus employees at the defunct printing presses will be shifted to other departments.

He also warned the work shirker and employees often remain on furlough of stern action. “A circular has already been issued cautioning such employees,” he said.
