‘Evaluator to face music if students get more than 10 marks in re-evaluation’

Chandigarh : Close on the heels of Punjab Chief Minister pulling up Punjab School Education Board chairman for poor results in Class X examinations, now Minister for Technical Education, Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi has warned evaluators of answer sheets of facing the music.

The ministers said that strict action will be taken against such evaluators if a student seeks revaluation of his answer sheet and gets 10 or more marks in revaluation.

The minister also claimed that the answer sheet of every student will be made available online so that the students and their parents could see it.

Channi was talking to media persons at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS PTU), Bathinda on Friday.

To curb copying in institutions providing technical education, the minister said that the examination will be conducted under CCTV surveillance from now onwards.

Channi said that the technical education in state was being given new dimensions as per need of hour and industry and for this the syllabus in all technical colleges will be crafted on the lines of IIT pattern.

The minister also inaugurated a building of pharmaceutical department and the new gate of campus. The MRSPTU will be developed as a model university of the state, he said adding that a statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh would be installed in the campus.

Punjab to introduce biometric system in technical colleges

Sullar Gharat (Sangrur) : Punjab Technical and Industrial Training Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday announced here that the state government has planned to impart technical training to the youth with an aim to open up new vistas for them for employment opportunities and under this plan it has decided to set up technical training centres in every district of the state in future.

The Minister was here in connection with the inspection of the land and other infrastructure for the setting up a technical training center for the boys and the girls of Dirba assembly constituency area. He assured that the proposed center will come up in next six months and it will start providing technical training thereafter to the students as well.

On the occasion, he also announced that the state government is very much serious about encouraging the technical training in the state and so it has prepared a master plan for it. He further announced the plan the government has decided to set up a government each in every sub-division of the state, which is lacking it and work over it has already initiated as well.

The Minister also announced that besides the state government is also serious about enforcing standards as well in its technical colleges and under the proposal, the government has decided to introduce the biometric system to check the attendance of the students and also to put each of the colleges under the CCTV camera surveillance as well.
