KHAIRA SAYS THIS IS POLITICALLY MOTIVATED AS HE EXPOSED POWER MINISTER ON SAND MINING AUCTIONS.

A former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker alleged that the party’s Bholath legislator Sukhpal Khaira defrauded him of ₹20 lakh by promising him party ticket from the Amargarh assembly constituency in Sangrur district.

Manpreet Singh of Jagowal village in Sangrur has submitted a complaint to the director general of police (DGP) Suresh Arora, demanding registration of a first information report (FIR) against Khaira. Sources said the complaint has been forwarded to the crime branch.

“When I was not given the ticket, I started demanding my money back but he refused and even threatened to kidnap me along with my family if I asked for the money again,” he said.

Claiming threat to his life, he demanded security. He said he came in contact with Khaira in 2013 as a Congress worker but later had joined AAP at his insistence. Khaira said this is politically motivated as he had exposed minister Rana Gurjit Singh on sand mining auctions. “Cases were filed against me during the previous SAD government but I came clean. I am open to any probe,” he said.
