Scheduling ITI’s session from June to be taken up with Centre: Channi

Chandigarh: With the annual academic session of ITI’s ending in July every year, many passing-out students of ITI’s could not meet the admission date deadlines in diploma courses of the Technical Education institutes for higher education. Taking a serious notice of the development, Punjab Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that the Punjab government would soon take up the issue with the Union government for rescheduling annual academic session of ITI’s from June to May.

Channi said that one academic year of ITI students is wasted just due to present academic session of ITI’s that ends in July and after this it takes almost a month to declare results. He said that by the date the results were pronounced the dates for admission in diploma courses lapses and students of ITI’s were not able to get admissions for higher studies.

A delegation of Punjab ITI Employees Association met the Technical Education Minister and gave a detailed representation regarding this faulty system. The Technical Education Minister assured them that the Punjab government would make all efforts to solve this issue on priority.
