Congress seeks probe into Valtoha’s alleged drug trade

Chandigarh : Congress MLAs from Tarn Taran district including DCC president and Kemkaran MLA Sukhpal Singh Bhullar, Harminder Gill, Ramanjit Singh Sikki and Dr Dharampal Agnihotri on Sunday condemned the Akali leader Virsa Singh Valtoha for threatening the Tarn Taran Deputy Commissioner and other officers.

In a joint statement issued here on Sunday, the MLAs said that Valtoha appeared to be still in hangover of ten-year Akali high-handedness. They said that Valtoha that he should better realise that the regime has changed and it is the rule of law that is now prevailing in Punjab and not the Jungle Raj of the Akalis he was part of.

The MLAs urged the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to probe into all the activities Valtoha did during the last ten years. They alleged that Valtoha had amassed huge wealth during these years and most of this wealth had come from drug dealings as he (Valtoha) was closely associated and aligned with trans-border drug dealers and international smugglers.

The Congress MLAs reiterated that the Congress government was committed to providing rule of law in the state. “At the same time we want to assure people that all those people, like Valtoha, who intimidated Congress workers will be brought to jusitice,” they added.
