Bains removed my turban, has no right to raise turban issue: Benipal

Ludhiana : Reacting on the issue of disrespect of turban in Vidhan Sabha, raised by Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) MLA Simarjit Singh Bains, Major (retd) Gurjinder Singh Benipal said that Bains had disrespected and removed his turban and now he had no right to speak on the turban issue.

Hitting out at MLA from Atam Nagar constituency Simarjit Singh Bains, Benipal who is presently posted as District Revenue Officer (DRO) Ludhiana said that in 2009, Bains and his accomplices had attacked him and removed his turban. “After the incident, I have not worn a turban and had also raised the issue before Akal Takht,” he stated. Benipal said that the person who has no respect for turban is now raising the issue of turban to get publicity.

Talking to selective media, Benipal recalled that in June 2009, when he was Tehsildar, Bains accompanied by his supporters barged into his office and assaulted him. Relatedly, last month, a Ludhiana court has framed the charges against MLA Bains and his accomplices for attempt to murder and other charges.

Recently, Bains has also appealed to Akal Takht Jathedar to intervene in the disrespect to turban issue. He has referred that turban was disrespected in Vidhan Sabha and also his turban was also removed during the protest in Ludhiana. He blamed Ludhiana Police and the previous government for removing his turban.
