Patiala : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and leader of the opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Sunday expressed confidence that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, with his indomitable spirit, will succeed in safeguarding the state’s precious water resources.

Speaking at the bhog ceremony of Captain Amarinder’s mother Rajmata Mohinder Kaur, here on Sunday at New Moti Bagh Palace, Khaira described the chief minister as a saint statesman, who had resigned from Parliament over the attack on Harmandar Sahib and then from the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in protest against Operation Black Thunder.

He had even earlier shown exemplary courage to save the state’s waters during his previous term as chief minister, by passing the Water Agreements Termination Act, said Khaira, adding that he was sure Captain Amarinder would once again come to the rescue of Punjab and its people.

In an apparent reference to the SYL issue, Khaira said Captain Amarinder had the ability to protect Punjab’s waters and ensure that its people are not deprived of this much-needed resource.
