Chandigarh : Three senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) gave a miss to a meeting called by the newly elected leader of opposition in Punjab Sukhpal Singh Khaira, here on Tuesday.

Though a majority of the party legislators attended the meeting and discussed the issues related to farmers suicide due to farm indebtedness and calling of session of Vidhan Sabha on it, yet senior party leaders including H S Phoolka, Aman Arora and Kanwar Sandhu failed to turn up.

With these leaders staying away from the meeting, it seems that things were not going well in the AAP. Party insiders disclosed that differences among the party leaders over certain issues led the three skip the meeting.

A spokesperson, however, clarified that Phoolka could not attend the meeting due to his important court cases in Delhi. While Aman Arora and Kanwar Sandhu were already in America and Canada, respectively. They had already left for overseas before the meeting was fixed, he claimed.

The AAP has been demanding a three-day special session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha to discuss the burning issue of farmers suicides due to debt. The party has also suggested one year moratorium on recovery of agriculture loans and interest on the Karnataka pattern.
