Captain announces ₹50 lakh for HC Bar

CHANDIGARH:: Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday announced Rs 50 lakh for the welfare of lawyers of Punjab and Haryana high court.

Amrinder Singh visited the high court Bar for inauguration of digitised new section of library.

Chief justice SJ Vazifdar, among other judges were also present on the occasion.

Singh in his address called upon the executive wing of the government to tighten its belt and improve its functioning to minimise the pressure on the judiciary.

“People should not end up running to the judiciary for justice on the smallest of matters.

With the executive taking fewer decisions and leaving all vital matters to the judiciary, the latter was being over-burdened,” said the chief minister.

A large number of advocates including, advocate general Punjab, Atul Nanda, advocate general Haryana, BR Mahajan, additional solicitor general, Satya Pal Jain, and assistant solicitor general, Chetan Mittal, were also present on the occasion.
