CHANDIGARH: Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh has postponed his five-day visit to Israel.
The CM, who was scheduled leave for Israel on an official visit on September 13, is likely to travel to the country in November this year to attract investment to the state. “The visit has been put off. No fresh dates have been decided so far,” said sources. Israeli envoy to India Daniel Carmon, who had called on the chief minister in June this year, had invited him to visit his country to develop cooperation in agriculture, horticulture and water conservation.
However, Amarinder, who is also a military historian, will leave for the United Kingdom on September 7 on a private visit for the launch of his book on the battle of Saragarhi as planned. He will return to Punjab on September 13.
The book celebrates the bravery and valour of 21 soldiers of 36 Sikh Regiment in the battle that took place in 1897-98.
