Phagwara : Punjab minister for SC/BC Welfare Sadhu Singh Dharmsot Saturday said that the audit of Rs 800 crore embezzlement in the disbursement of Post Matric SC Scholarship scheme was going on in the state and those found guilty would be brought to book. The minister said that those playing with the future of Scheduled Caste (SC) students would face the music, as the congress government was committed to ensure justice to them.
Dharmsot said that the ‘sins’ of decade long misrule of SAD-BJP government in the state could not be washed overnight. He said that despite of all odds, Congress government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has done exemplary work in a short span of six months. Interacting with the media persons, Dharmsot accompanied by former Punjab Minister Joginder Singh Mann also said that during the misrule of SAD-BJP alliance, around 1000 acres of forest land was encroached by affluent people. “The Forest Department would soon start a special drive from Ludhiana to recover this land”, he said.
Dharmsot said that the Punjab government has already taken path breaking initiatives during the first six months. He said that loan waiver of the farmers coupled with the announcement to give electricity at the rate of Rs 5 per unit to the industry were aimed at ensuring the welfare of common man along with putting the state back on the growth trajectory. The Minister further said that the state government was committed to wipe out the curse of drugs from the state. He said that all the big fishes in drug trade would be put behind the bars by the state government. “Concerted efforts were being made by Capt Amarinder to eliminate the scourge of drugs from state”, he said.
Assailing the Modi led centre government, the minister said that the NDA government was meting out step motherly treatment to the state. He said that the recent decision of the Modi Government to extend tax concessions to the hilly states was a fatal blow to the state industry. On this occasion, the minister was accompanied by Presidents of Block Congress Daljeet Singh Raju and Sanjeev Bugga and others.
