Chandigarh: Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi on Monday over the state’s request to raise the borrowing limit to raise loans from financial institutions to fund its Rs 9,500 crore crop loan waiver scheme. Though officially the outcome of the meeting was not known, sources said the state was yet to get an assurance on the issue as other states were asking for the same one-time waiver to raise loans. The CM also took up the issue of giving incentive to farmers to discourage them from burning paddy straw. It is learnt that the CM was also taking up with the Union Agriculture Minister the matter of releasing the cash credit limit (CCL) for the paddy crop.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
