Jalandhar : State Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot today alleged the Rs 800-crore embezzlement in the post-matric scholarship scheme was “not possible without the patronage of the earlier SAD-BJP government”. He said the perpetrators of the crime against the SC community would not be spared.
In Jalandhar to attend a Shobha Yatra ahead of Valmiki Jayanti, he said the audit of these irregularities was underway and would be completed very soon. Dharamsot said besides initiating punitive action against the embezzlers under this scheme, the mechanism for the recovery of embezzled amount from colleges/ universities/officials and politicians concerned would be started. He said every individual who was involved in the “daylight robbery” would be punished severely.
On another issue, the minister said the Forest Department would soon start a drive to recover thousands of acres of its encroached land. He alleged that due to the political patronage of the previous government, affluent people had encroached forest land.
