Sidhu says miscreants operating social media accounts in his name

CHANDIGARH: Local government minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday said some miscreants are operating fake accounts in his name on various social media platforms, including Twitter and Facebook.

In a statement here on Wednesday, the minister said he would take legal recourse to put a stop to the activities of such anti-social elements. “I will soon lodge an FIR so as to make sure that such rogue malefactors are brought to book.” He also appealed to people to beware of such “rumour-mongers” and not pay any heed to the “canards being spread by such rowdy wrongdoers” in his name.

The minister clarified that he had an official account on twitter @sherryontopp, but it has been brought to his notice that some miscreants are operating many fake accounts in his name.

“This trend needs to be nipped in the bud immediately to stop the people around the world, especially Punjab, from falling prey to it.”

He also made it clear that he has official page on Facebook www.facebook.com/sherryontopp.

Sidhu also stated that being an elected representative, he is fully committed to the welfare of the people of the state and will soon launch a website for interaction with the public.
