Chandigarh – The meeting of council of Ministers for Punjab will be held on November 17 and although there will be few issues to be discussed in the meeting, but PCOCA will be the main issue, which is the priority of the government to counter the problem of gangsters, target killings, drugs, radical forces and other unlawful activities in the state. According to information, the work on drafting of legislation on the Punjab Control of Organised Crime Act (PCOCA) has been almost completed by the Cabinet sub-committee, headed by Minister Brahm Mohindra.

The idea of this Act was brought up after the Director General of Police had raised the issue of giving more teeth to tackle against Organised crime in Punjab. The proposed legislation would ensure that the police are not obstructed in dealing with such gangsters with an iron hand. Interestingly, PCOCA was the idea of previous government, but it could not be approved in the Cabinet meeting due to opposition of some ministers during the last regime.

There are some other such issues, which are likely to be discussed in the Cabinet meeting like cultural policy, some issue of providing relief to urban areas ahead of corporation and council elections, employees’ issues are said to be in the agenda of Cabinet, while some more agenda items Will be included from various departments before the meeting.
