Ensure optimum utilisation of urban properties: Bajwa to officials

Chandigarh – State Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa on Thursday directed officials of his department to ensure optimum utilisation of urban properties to boost the income of panchayat Samitis. He also directed the officials to submit a detailed report of the department’s properties lying vacant in Punjab’s urban areas within 15 days and have it implemented within a month to increase revenue.

The directions were issued during a meeting at the minister’s office here. Bajwa, in a release, said that detailed information has also been sought from block samities for proper planning of development projects in their areas. He asked the officials to initiate necessary action to remove encroachments from the department’s urban properties and the construction of boundary walls.

The minister said that the department should prepare a plan for the infrastructural development of vacant properties of panchayats and panchayat Samitis to boost income. Bajwa also cleared the projects prepared for vacant properties of Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and Tarn Taran districts.
