Beneficiaries of old-age pension to get Rs 750 per month from July: Razia

Sangrur – Under social security pensions’ scheme of the state, lakhs of beneficiaries of old-age pension, widow pension etc will get Rs 750 per month from July. This was stated here on Monday by Punjab Minister for Social Security and Development of Women and Children Razia Sultana. Earlier before July, a sum of Rs 500 per month was being given by the state government to the beneficiaries of old-age pension, widow pension etc.

The minister disclosed this while reviewing on-going development works and social welfare schemes in Sangrur and Barnala districts at a meeting, held at the district administrative complex here. She directed the officers to complete the works, related to public interests, on priority basis so that common persons, visiting various offices, did not face any type of inconvenience. She also directed the officers to complete ongoing development works by March 31 in Sangrur and Barnala districts.

She reviewed works, related to departments of drainage, Irrigation, PWD, and Mandi Board. She also reviewed smart ration card Scheme and directed the officers concerned to ensure that all eligible persons could get benefits of the Scheme. Among others who were present at the meeting included Dhuri MLA Dalvir Singh Goldy, Sangrur deputy commissioner (DC) Amar Partap Singh Virk, Barnala DC Ghanshyam Thori, Sangrur ADC Upkar Singh, Sangrur ADC(Development) Rajinder Singh Batra and Barnala ADC (Development) Parveen Kumar.
