Had sought CBI probe into smuggling of antiques: Sidhu

CHANDIGARH: Punjab tourism and cultural affairs minister Navjot Singh Sidhu had recommended a probe and action against a senior bureaucrat accused of selling antique artefacts, but chief minister Amarinder Singh’s office has not initiated any action in the matter.

An official spokesman said news reports had appeared in certain sections of the media that no action was taken against the officer. He said the minister had written to the CM demanding a CBI probe. The copy of the letter was also sent to the director, vigilance, Punjab, the CBI director and the director, revenue intelligence, Mumbai Zonal Unit. The letter stated that Randhawa in connivance with one Vijay Nanda sold important antique artefacts in the international market.
