Rana Gurjit’s resignation: Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday accepted the resignation tendered recently by cabinet minister Rana Gurjit. In a meeting held today at New Delhi, Amarinder revealed that the resignation has been accepted.

After the sand mine auction row erupted last year, the Chief Minister ordered a Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice (retd) J S Narang. Rana Gurjit with firms involved in the sand mine auction tendered his resignation. The Opposition parties like Akali Dal had particularly questioned the controversial sand mine bids as the Congress had itself made illegal sand mining in Punjab an election issue.

Captain Amarinder Singh met Rahul Gandhi in Delhi today. The discussion regarding Rana Gurjit ‘ s resignation was held and finally Captain Amarinder Singh accepted the resignation. Meanwhile, Discussion regarding expansion of Cabinet was also held. As well as, discussion on selection of MC’s Mayor in different cities where the polls were held recently was also held.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
