Chandigarh(Narinder Jagga) : The Punjab has to suffer approximately Rs 1000 crore loss with the new policy of Central Government in Union budget. The excise duty on Petrol and Diesel has been proposed to reduce on micro level, which is not meant to be relief for common man, but it will directly impact on the share of states in excise duty. But with new policy, there will be increase in special and additional excise duty, which lead to increase in the Centre’s share in taxes.

Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, while talking to the Daily Post, said that with this policy, the entire states will have to suffer loss of excise duty of about Rs 20,000 crore, while Punjab alone will suffer about 1000 crore loss. Badal told that the Union Budget has disappointed the state as its no requirement has been adjusted in the Union Budget. Manpreet told that a charter had been submitted to the Central Government, in which it was demanded rail link from Mohali to Rajpura, Centrally sponsored schemes for border and kandi area on the pattern of 90:10 ratio for the betterment and strengthening of International border area, centenary Celebration of Jalianwala Bagh , Horticulture University in Abohar, Celebration of Guru Nanak Dev ji 550th Shatabadi and much more.

But no demand of Punjab has been accepted in the Budget. He told that there is no doubt on the honesty of the Union Finance Minister, but the budget will be proved fruitless. He told that this is not the last full budget of the Union Government, but another budget for the next year likely to be presented in the month of December end of this year, because the India is adopting the criteria of January to December as full year like other many countries.
