‘PENDING SALARY OF RURAL CIVIC BODIES STAFF TO BE RELEASED IN 10 DAYS’

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government on Thursday ordered the release of two-month pending salary of panchayat samiti and zila parishad employees within 10 days, an official release said.

Punjab rural development and panchayat minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa also ordered an inquiry into the unnecessary delay in the release of their salary, the release said.

Earlier, a delegation of the Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad Employees Association met the minister and apprised him that their salaries had not been released for several months, it said.

Bajwa issued directions to the senior officials of the department to make a permanent solution for timely release of the salary. He also directed the principal secretary, rural development, to take strict action against those officials who are delaying salaries of the employees without any genuine reason.
