Chandigarh : Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh authorised the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) to work on a PPP model for the maintenance and running of the Amritsar BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit System) corridor while chairing the 35th meeting of the Board of Directors of PIDB here today.

The CM also gave his approval for the establishment of convention centres in Ludhiana, Mohali and Amritsar, besides a recreational centre at Ludhiana. The CM cleared the proposal for an inbuilt hotel facility on the premises of these convention centres. The Chief Minister directed the department to make the BRTS in Amritsar fully operational by April 15. Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu demanded creation of an Urban Transport Fund (UTF) to which the CM agreed. The CM also asked the Local Government Department to ascertain the feasibility of introducing the BRTS in Ludhiana and Jalandhar.
