No meeting between Trudeau and Amarinder in schedule

Chandigarh(Narinder Jagga, February 16): There will be no meeting between Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amrinder Singh as there is no mention of meeting in the planned schedule. Therefore it is also not clear either CM, Punjab will go to Amritsar as protocol with buke of flowers or not. Official Sources in the CMO told that till now there is state of confusion as the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India is likely to send second schedule a day before 21. Sources also revealed that there was no planned schedule of meeting, but it is believed that CM will able to get an opportunity of meeting with Trudeau during Amritsar visit.
Sources told that the Punjab Government has written letters to GOI for detail and times of visit of Guests since 9 February, but no reply has been received till now. Moreover, in the ‘welcome to Punjab’ two sample welcome banners has been sent to Punjab Government to be placed at Airport and other important landmark, in which there are only two photos, one is Canadian PM and other is PM of India.
Prime Minister of Canada will be coming to Punjab on February 21 with his family and few of his ministers. Among ministers, there will be Canada’s Defence Minister of Punjabi origin Harjit Singh Sajjan, Navdeep Singh Bains, Amarjit Singh Sohi and others. Although the Guests will be reaching in India from February 17 and will be in the country till February 24.The delegation will emplane from Mumbai to Sri Guru Ram Dass jee International Airport , Amritsar on Feb.21 at any time in the morning on their special Canadian Aircraft and will be emplane for Delhi after noon anytime. MEA has written a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar to receive the distinguished Guests, extend protocol courtesies including red carpet welcome with cultural reception.
CM Punjab had said, earlier that he was looking forward to meeting with PM of Canada. The visit of Canadian’s PM is believed crucial for Punjab as well as Congress Government in Punjab. Earlier, few months back, the CM of Punjab had refused to meet Canadian Defence minister Sajjan during letter’s visit to Punjab. The development comes after Captain called Canadian Defence minister Harjit Singh Sajjan as a ‘Khalistani sympathiser ‘and had refused to meet Sajjan. It is believed that no schedule of meeting with Amrinder can be the reason behind such his statements.Meanwhile, an advance security party from Canada has visited Amritsar two times. Other hand SGPC also keen to hold a special event in the honour of Trudeau during his visit to the Golden Temple.
