CHANDIGARH : Punjab technical education minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Saturday asked Aam Aadmi Party MLA and leader of opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira to “refrain from giving false statements to the media about his involvement in illegal sand mining”.

Channi asked Khaira to withdraw his statement or be ready to face a defamation case. Channi clarified that as a cabinet minister now and earlier as the opposition leader, he had raised the issue. He added none of his family members have any link with the legal or illegal mining.
