Punjab to set up 216 model schools

GURDASPUR : Punjab education minister Aruna Chaudhary has said that the Punjab government will establish 216 model schools in the state in the next six months.
Chaudhary was speaking during a health fair at the government health centre at Dorangla here on Wednesday.
Chaudhary said the state government has taken an initiative to provide quality education in rural areas, especially in the border districts. “It will not only help in solving the problem of staff crunch in schools but also ensure healthy environment,” she said.
She also said new posts of DEO (E) and DEO (S) will be created. Talking about the recruitment process of 3,582 teachers, she said she has communicated to the education department officials to speed up the process, so that services of newly recruited teachers can be availed.
Civil surgeon, Dr Krishan Chand, district family welfare officer, Dr Charnjit Singh Kahlon, SMO, Dr Gopal Raj and block development and panchayat officer Sukhjit Singh Bajwa, Gurdaspur were present at the event.
