CHANDIGARH : State public works department (PWD) minister Vijay Inder Singla on Monday launched the Punjab roads GIS portal and the Punjab sarak sewa mobile app.

He also flagged off a newly inducted state-of-the-art mobile testing van to facilitate the testing of building and construction material in the field.

Singla said the department has made the roads GIS portal with the help of the National Informatics Centre wherein details of all roads in Punjab, including the national and state highways, Mandi Board, district and link roads, will be available.

The portal will have information on their length, width, crust thickness, year of construction, cost and the last repair undertaken, he said.

This will help the department expedite implementation of roadworks. Also, it will have information on the roads that need to be repaired or the areas that lack connectivity.
