MOHALI: Chief minister (CM) Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday assured full protection to former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal in wake of the increased threat perception to their lives.

Responding to media queries on the sidelines of the inauguration of the six-storeyed Vigilance Bhawan in Mohali, the CM said, “I am aware of the increased threat perception to the lives of the Badals and will ensure that full security is provided to the father-son duo.”

About FIRs against farmers for stubble burning, the CM said, “I am sympathetic to the problem of farmers but am bound to go by the law.” On teachers’ agitation, he said, “Services of nearly 40,000 employees, including teachers, have to be regularised. But it will take time as government is facing a fiscal crisis.” He added, “We have already given the teachers an option to continue on existing pay scale of ₹13,900 or join at basic pay of ₹15,300 for three years before being regularised.”
