CHANDIGARH: Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh will meet Israel President Reuven Rivlin on October 23. During his five-day visit, beginning October 21, the former will discuss a wide range of subjects with Rivlin. Accompanied by a high-level delegation of officials, the Chief Minister is scheduled to meet Israeli Minister for Agriculture Uri Ariel and Minister of Energy and Water Resources Dr Yuval Steinitz. Two important MoUs are expected to be signed, one of which is related to water management.
e-initiative at Vidhan Sabha
Chandigarh: The Central Project Management Unit of the Union Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs conducted a two-day workshop on the National e-Vidhan Application, which will bring all parliamentarians and legislators on one platform, at Punjab Vidhan Sabha on October 17 and 18. The Union Ministry, which is a nodal ministry for this "one nation, one application" project, is hopeful that this application will lead to faster communication and decision-making.
Farmers protest against arhtiya
Muktsar: Farmers at the Dhulkot focal point on Thursday lodged a protest, alleging that an arhtiya was packing excess paddy in the bags and a rice mill owner was using moisture content level meter by flouting the norms. They said both were fleecing the farmers and sought action against them. Meanwhile, the officials concerned issued a notice to the commission agent, stating nothing illegal would be tolerated.
Cops transferred
Chandigarh: Additional Director General of Police Rohit Chowdhary has been posted as ADGP (Prisons) in place of ADGP IPS Sahota, who has been posted as ADGP (Railways) with immediate effect, a government spokesperson said.
SDO arrested
Chandigarh: The Vigilance Bureau on Thursday arrested Atul Kaushal, an SDO of the Punjab Pollution Control Board posted in Faridkot, and his middleman, Jarnail Singh, for taking bribe from rice shellers and school owners to issue NOCs.
