RATTAN SINGH AJNALA IS SENIOR VICEPRESIDENT, SEWA SINGH SEKHWAN SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE PARTY.

AMRITSAR : The newly formed Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) on Sunday announced the names of seven party office-bearers, making former MP Rattan Singh Ajnala and former state minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan senior vicepresident and secretary general.

Flanked by Ajnala and Sekhwan, party president Ranjit Singh Brahmpura made these announcements during a press conference in Amritsar.

While former district (Mohali) Akali Dal president jathedar Ujagar Singh Badali was appointed vice-president, former SAD leader from Nawanshahr, Mohinder Singh Hussainpura, was made junior vice-president. Also, former Beas MLA Manmohan Singh Sathiyala and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member from Faridkot, Makhan Singh Nanga, were chosen as general secretaries. Former SAD leader Charan Singh Ferozepur is jathebandak secretary.

The announcement comes a week after the dissident taksali leaders floated the outfit at the Akal Takht. “During a meeting earlier in the day, we passed five resolutions passed unanimously,” Brahmpura said.

In the resolutions, the outfit accused the Badals of disrespecting the sanctity of the Akal Takht by politicising the SGPC and decimating Sikh organisations by securing pardon for Dera Sacha Sauda chief . The Badals are also responsible for the incidents of Bargari and Kotakpura firing, they said. They praised lawyer HS Phoolka for fighting the case of 1984 anti-Sikh riots victims .
