MUKSTAR: State rural development and panchayats minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa on Monday said the political parties should refrain from politicising the religious functions such as Maghi Mela.
Bajwa along with revenue minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria paid obeisance at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib on the occasion of Maghi Mela said, “Chief minister Amarinder Singh has sent us to pay obeisance here. Our party follows the edict of the Akal Takht that political parties shouldn’t hold rallies during religious events. The Congress didn’t hold any political conference last year also. Those who are holding political conferences doesn’t follow the instructions of Akal Takht”
The two refused to comment on Congress MLA Kulbir Singh Zira’s statement claiming mafiapolice nexus.
“Our government gave reservation to women in the rural elections and due reservation will also be given to women in the posts of chairpersons. We are also providing funds for overall development of the state,” said Bajwa.
The Congress ministers also launched a website of a project named ‘My Muktsar, My Pride’ to keep the city clean. Deputy speaker Ajaib Singh Bhatti and MLA Amarinder Singh Raja Warring were also present on the occasion.
