NABARD: State has credit potential of R2.27 lakh crore

CHANDIGARH: The National Bank For Agriculture And Rural Development (NABARD) has projected a credit potential of ₹2.27 lakh crore for Punjab during 2019-20.
As per a focus paper released by the bank on Monday, the state has witnessed a growth of 5% as compared to credit potential during the previous year 2018-19.
Punjab cooperation minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa released the paper, states that the crop loan is estimated at ₹97,577 crore, which is 43% of the total estimated potential.
The estimated sectorwise potentials are agriculture infrastructure (₹6,490 crore), agriculture ancillary (₹14,963 crore), agriculture term loan (₹23,407 crore), medium and small scale enterprise loans (₹41,129 crore), export credit (₹15,566 crore), educational loan (₹5,995 crore), housing loan (₹14,785 crore) in the state focus paper.

The state government will soon release compensation to farmers whose crop got damaged because of hailstorm, state revenue and disaster management minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria said on Monday.
Chief minister Amarinder Singh had issued orders to all the deputy commissioners to conduct fresh ‘girdawri’ (loss assessment) of the affected area, Sarkaria said in a statement issued here. He said reports regarding crop damage were being received and the compensation to farmers would be released immediately after the receipt of full report.
