Chandigarh : Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday enhanced the allocation of funds to the state government’s farm loan debt waiver to Rs 5,500 crores, while chairing the 45th meeting of the state Rural Development Board. The earlier amount was Rs 4,500 crore.

An official press release said the CM directed the Secretary, Mandi Board, to expedite the ongoing project of repairing rural link roads for ensuring its time-bound completion. The secretary said a comprehensive road repair programme had been drawn up, under which the first phase of around 15,000 km of repair was under implementation and would be completed by June. The phase II of project had also been initiated to repair another 15,000 km of rural roads, for which the tendering process had been started and work would be allotted by February, with completion scheduled for June next year.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
